GBM Limited (GBM) is a leading UK-based, independent firm of consulting engineers, specialising in the design, development and construction of new mining projects, and the refurbishment of existing ore processing plants and associated infrastructure. GBM performs front-end engineering design, due diligence and independent reviews, mineral process and infrastructure designs, technical studies, engineering, procurement, construction and management (EPCM) project deliveries, cost estimations and financial analysis services.

Our expertise is the design, engineering, project management, procurement and construction of such plants. Our personnel currently provide technical services to the mining industry in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, Russia, Central Asian Republics, the Middle East, and Australia. GBM’s experienced employees have worked in the mining industry, worldwide, and are familiar with the current work practices and technologies for treatment of mineral bearing ores.

GBM has been certified by the British Standards Institution and operates Business Management Systems that comply with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 for Quality Management and 14001 for Environmental Management.

GBM is a member of the GBM Group of Companies, who provide professional engineering services for minerals and infrastructure projects worldwide.

Michael Short founded GBM in 1994, and he remains as the Managing Director. He is a Chartered Engineer in both the UK and Australia, with over 45 years of project management and construction site experience. This expertise spans a broad range of projects, including dam construction, and the design and construction of gold, copper, lead, zinc ore treatment plants in Africa, Central Asia, Russia, Europe, Asia and Australia. During this period, he has acted as Project Manager, Construction Manager and Site Engineer on greenfield and brownfield plants. He has gained significant experience in the preparation, administration and implementation of projects whilst working to Clients' requirements of quality, budget and time schedules.

Studies

GBM performs scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, to assess the initial potential of a project. Process plant flow sheet optimisation and metallurgical test work underpins further engineering performed during theses phases driving development of project infrastructure, cost estimates, drawings and equipment sizing.

Engineering

GBM provides engineering expertise, ranging from process engineers, mechanical engineers, civil and structural engineers, to electrical, piping and instrumentation engineering teams. GBM provides all planning and design requirements for a mineral processing project.

Project Management

GBM focuses on providing high quality services, whilst maintaining accurate budgeting and timely scheduling. This is ensured by the production of accurate technical reports and by maintaining open communications between the Client and the on-site personnel.

Construction Management

GBM’s construction management teams ensure the smooth delivery of the project’s construction phase, whilst adhering to the design schedule, and delivering the high quality construction, accurate budgeting, and mandatory safety protocols. Our supervisors and other construction teams liaise with all involved, and are on-site to provide technical advice.
